Z-Wave Plus Certified

Utilizing the Z-Wave Plus 500 chipset, this smart relay switch is compatible and backward compatible with most Z-Wave certified gateways, including VeraEdge, Vera, and SmartThings.

A neutral wire is required for this Z-Wave module to work correctly.

Dynamic Functions

After installation and inclusion to the Z-Wave network, this single relay switch enables wireless control of lights, fans, and other appliances from any distance using an internet browser or smartphone app. Through the Z-Wave hub, utilize timed commands to create schedules, or program the module into scenes, groups, and associations for interaction with other Z-Wave devices. This module works with the Alexa app for voice control. A compatible hub is required for these functions.

More With Z-Wave Plus

This Z-Wave relay module utilizes Z-Wave Plus, which provides energy efficiency, faster operation, better RF coverage, and easier installation. It is backward compatible with Z-Wave classic devices and hubs. Z-Wave Plus unifies all connected home devices into an integrated wireless network and helps them communicate with one another.

Compatibility

Connects to the smart home network via a Z-Wave Plus or classic hubs, such as VeraEdge, VeraPlus, SmartThings, Homeseer, Wink, and Zipato. A Z-Wave Plus-enabled hub is required to achieve Z-Wave Plus functionality.

Acts as a Repeater

Once the ZWN-RSM1-PLUS is connected to your smart home network, it will retransmit the RF signal from one device to another until the intended device is reached. In a Z-Wave network, each device is designed to act as a wireless repeater. This ensures that the signal is received by its intended destination by routing the signal around obstacles and radio dead spots.

I was looking for a way to switch ceiling lights on and off during vacations, but I wanted to retain the existing dimmer (all of the available ZWave dimmer switches would change the appearance and the way the dimmer operates). This device provides just the solution I need. I wired it in series ahead of the dimmer, so it’s always connected to power and thus remains associated with the VeraEdge hub. In normal use, I keep it set to ON, so the existing dimmer controls the light as it always has. When I go on vacation I set the dimmer switch to ON and then let the VeraEdge hub switch the light on and off at random times.

Absolutely great! The built in wiring leads makes this a simple install. Easily able to fit in my existing gang box with a existing switches. Connected to a SmartThings hub and works perfectly. Only issue I had was the SamsungThings default device handler does not report status changes if the relay is triggered by the manual switch. Contacted Enerwave Tech Support (kudos for their super prompt response and assistance) and they provided a custom device handler. Everything works perfect now and status is properly updated when using the manual switch. (Note you need to cut all power to the relay for a couple of seconds after installing the custom device handler for it to properly initialize)

Instructions not so good, safe yourself the headache and buy the GE zwave wall switch it installs just like a regular switch. I change out all my light fixtures to led and purchased the GE dimmer zwave switches.

  4. Hugh L. Esterle

I give it 4 stars because the install was easy, their size is super compact and fit into my ceiling fan housing group very easily. I bought 2 modules one for the fan and one for the light. They work well with my wink system and the amazon Alexa devices. The down side is they don’t offer a dimmable option (light or fan are either on or off). And occasionally something triggers one of the modules (our light attachment specifically) to randomly turn on. I’m not sure what causes it to turn on but at 2 in the morning waking up to my light being on is not fun times.
